ADMISSION NOTICE 2008-09
SMVDU, a highly technical & fully residential statutory University established on IIT
academic pattern, announces Admissions for the Academic Session 2008-09 to the
following courses:
UNDER GRADUATE COURSES:
1 B. Tech. in Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication
Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology & Mechanical Engineering (4 yr courses): As
per the eligibility criteria of AIEEE.
2. B. Arch (5 yr course): As per the eligibility criteria of AIEEE/A and Council of
Architecture guidelines.
All admissions for S.No. 1 & 2 shall be on the basis of merit rank order of AIEEE (All
India Rank), through Central Counseling Board.
POST GRADUATE COURSES:
3. MBA & MBA (Business Economics): Graduates with 60% marks in any stream from a
recognized University / Institution. Selection Basis: Short Listing by Valid MAT Score of
4th May 2008 followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
4. M.Tech (Energy Management.): Graduates with 60% marks in
Architecture/Chemical/Electrical /Mechanical Engineering or M.Sc (Phy./Chem./Maths)
from a recognized University/ Institution. Preference shall be given to candidates with
valid GATE score.
5. M.Tech. (Manufacturing & Automation): Graduates with 60% marks in Mechanical,
Production or Industrial Engineering from a recognized University/Institution. Preference
shall be given to candidates with valid GATE score.
6. M.A. (Philosophy): Graduates with 50% marks in any stream from a recognized
University / Institution.
7. M.Sc. (Mathematics): Graduates with 50% marks in any stream with Mathematics as a
subject from a recognized University/Institution.
8. M.A. (English): B.A. (Hons.) in English Literature with at least 50% marks or
graduation in Science or Arts streams with at least 55% marks.
For S.No. 4 to 8: Admissions shall be on the basis of written test &/or interview.

Centurion Bank of Punjab, Tata Sky, Nokia, Coca Cola, Intex Technology, GE Money,
Reliance Money, ICICI Lombard, and many more.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates appearing in the respective qualifying exams can also
apply for all the above courses subject to their passing the examination before the
admissions are finalized.
***All Engineering Courses stand approved by AICTE & approval has been received from
Council of Architecture for running B.Arch. Course. For B.Tech IBT/M.Tech, courses
AICTE approval is applied for & is expected shortly.***
How to apply : Prospectus and Application Form can be obtained on payment of an a/c
payee DD of Rs. 1000/-, (Rs.300/- for S.No.6-8) from Public Relations Office, 15C, 2nd
Extension, Opposite Bahu Plaza, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu – 180004, OR from office of the
AR(A&E), SMVDU Campus, Katra – 182301, J&K, India. Or the Form can be
downloaded from our website www.smvdu.ac.in and submitted along with a DD of Rs.
1000/- (Rs.300/- for S.No.6-8) drawn in favour of “Registrar, SMVDU”, payable at
Jammu.
Sale of Prospectus and Application Form for M.B.A. & M.B.A. (Business Economics)
is up to 15th June 2008 and for other courses is up to 15th July 2008. The application
forms, complete in all respects, will be received till 5:00 p.m. on the last date of the
sale of the prospectus / application form for the respective course.
